Card Overview
Ethena Pay arrived on 1 September 2026 with something most beta launches skip: a finished pricing page. Issuance, monthly and account fees are all free. The FX line is the surprising part. Visa's own conversion fee gets passed through at cost, around 1%, with a written promise that Ethena adds nothing on top of it. The USDe balance the card spends earns up to 5-6% paid daily, but read the terms before treating that as yield: the headline rate is the USDe base rate plus a "Daily Boost" the contract calls a discretionary promotional incentive, and it lapses in any month you do not use the card at least once. Cashback runs 4-5% in disclosed bands by tier, then pays out in AVAX, so the reward carries a token price risk the percentages hide. US persons are excluded outright. The EU is not in the launch wave, and access opens cohort by cohort.
This is a Visa crypto card. It uses a self-custody model. It offers cashback rewards.
Fees & Limits
| Issuance Fee | Free: virtual card issuance, replacement, activation and electronic statements are all listed Free on the published pricing page |
|---|---|
| Annual Fee | None: no account opening, monthly maintenance, inactivity or closure fees; 0% APR on purchases, with the issuer reserving the right to introduce interest later |
| FX Fee | None added by the platform: Visa's own conversion fee is passed through at cost, typically around 1%, with the pricing page stating "We add no markup of any kind on currency conversion. We do not earn anything on it"; no cross-border fee, and USD transactions carry no conversion cost. Unusually for the Rain stack, the Card Terms repeat this at-cost pass-through instead of the template ceiling used by sibling programmes. |
| ATM Limit | $1.00 + 0.65% of the amount "where ATM access is available". Published for a virtual-only card, so no ATM access in practice today; ATM operators may add their own surcharge. Cash advances and outbound wires are listed as services not currently offered. |
| Spending Limit | Dynamic: set by Ethena Pay from the amount of Collateral, and the issuer may raise, cut or zero limits on any card at any time without notice; unknown-amount merchants place holds that reduce the limit until settlement |
These figures can change. Confirm the current fees, FX and network in Ethena Pay’s official terms before you apply.
Features
- Card Type: Virtual only. The virtual Visa generates in the app in under a minute; no physical card is announced on the site or in the Card Terms, though the fee schedule already prices ATM withdrawals. Account tiers Standard, Pro and VIP set the cashback bands and Boost caps.
- Top up with: Fiat by bank transfer through funding partners Moonpay and Iron, and crypto deposits straight to the wallet, both arriving as USDe; launch-day coverage describes IBAN-style account details. The Card Terms name Supported Blockchains as Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism and Arbitrum: the Rain-template list, omitting Avalanche even though the app runs on it and rewards pay in AVAX.
- Available Countries: Staged beta in ~50 countries with more added weekly; the launch wave includes Australia, Brazil, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa and, for the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, with Latin America covered from Argentina to Peru in the appendix. US persons are excluded from the card entirely; Canada, South Korea and Taiwan are excluded from the first phase; the EU and UK are excluded from the launch wave despite appearing in the terms appendix. Restricted Jurisdictions include Afghanistan, Belarus, Myanmar, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Venezuela and 19 more. Brazil sits in the launch-week press list but is absent from the appendix table.
Banking & Fiat Rails
Partial: fiat in and out runs through Moonpay/Iron bank rails, and launch coverage describes IBAN-style details with incoming fiat converted to USDe; a personal IBAN is not documented in the published terms, and outbound wire transfers are on the not-currently-offered list
Who issues the Ethena Pay Card
Ethena Pay Card does not name its BIN sponsor in any public document we could reach. That is not unusual — around a quarter of the cards we track do the same. See our BIN-sponsor research for why disclosure varies and what it means for you.
Supported Cryptocurrencies
You can load the Ethena Pay Card with crypto; the 3 assets we track for it are listed below. When you pay, the card converts crypto to local fiat automatically.
Networks & deposit details: Crypto deposits credit as USDe. The Card Terms' Supported Blockchains list is Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism and Arbitrum, a Rain-template list without Avalanche, while the app itself is built on Avalanche and pays rewards in AVAX; the exact deposit networks offered in-app are not documented publicly

Pros & Cons
Pros
- The fee schedule is published and genuinely clean: card issuance, replacement, monthly and account fees all free, FX passed through at Visa's own roughly 1% with an explicit no-markup pledge. The balance the card spends earns up to 5-6% paid daily in USDe. The cashback ladder is disclosed band by band instead of a bare "up to", and self-custody is described as a mechanism, with passkeys and device keys, not as an adjective
- Works wherever Visa is accepted worldwide
- Self-custody: you keep your private keys until you spend
- Virtual card ready right away, no shipping wait
- Banking rails: IBAN support
- Multi-chain top-up across 5+ networks
Cons
- Cashback pays in AVAX, so you carry a volatile token between settlement and sale. The headline 6% rests on a Daily Boost the terms call a discretionary promotional incentive, "not interest, not yield", and it lapses in any month without a card transaction. Virtual-only, yet ATM fees are already priced. Access is a staged beta cohort, the referral programme in the terms has not launched, and the late and returned payment fees, up to $40 and $29, come straight from the Rain-stack template
- Card issuance fee: Free: virtual card issuance, replacement, activation and electronic statements are all listed Free on the published pricing page
- Annual fee: None: no account opening, monthly maintenance, inactivity or closure fees; 0% APR on purchases, with the issuer reserving the right to introduce interest later
- Only available in certain regions
- Full KYC required, no anonymous tier
