The privacy-first persona has narrowed in 2026, and the 8 cards below reflect that. Even self-custody cards now mostly require some onboarding data, email, phone, often a soft KYC for spending above $1,000-$2,000 a month, because the underlying card-issuing rails are regulated regardless of how the crypto layer is structured. What this category genuinely offers isn't anonymity but rather minimal data collection: cards that don't tie your spending to a verified government identity, that don't require selfies and ID uploads for everyday use, and that let you maintain payment-graph separation between different parts of your life. The trade-off is consistent: lower limits, narrower country availability, and worse dispute handling if something goes wrong. None of these cards are useful for serious adversary models, a court order can still reach them through the BIN sponsor, but for everyday "I don't want my coffee purchases in a marketing database" reasons, they do the job. Pair with a virtual card and a separate email for best results.
