About Sweepbase

Sweepbase is an independent aggregator for crypto debit and credit cards. We pull together fees, cashback rates, supported networks, custody models, and regional availability in one place so you can compare cards without opening dozens of issuer websites yourself.

We have no editorial ties to any card issuer, bank, or exchange. Every card listed here is scored on the same criteria whether or not we have a commercial relationship with the issuer.

Our Mission

The crypto card market moves fast and is poorly documented. Fee schedules change without notice, KYC requirements shift whenever regulators update their rules, and cashback tiers are often buried in fine print behind staking conditions. It is hard to comparison-shop when the information is scattered across dozens of sites.

We started Sweepbase in 2024 to fix that. The goal is straightforward: publish accurate, current comparison data for every notable crypto card available globally, and present it in a way that helps you pick the right card, not the one that pays us the most.

We cover Visa and Mastercard, custodial and self-custody models, and cards available in the US, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and elsewhere. The database has 141 cards and we refresh it on a weekly cycle.

How We Rate Cards

Every card in the database is scored on the same criteria. Here is how our editorial process works.

Data We Collect

Issuance and annual fees (exact amounts in local currency)
FX conversion fees for cross-currency transactions
Cashback rates and any staking or tier requirements
Card network (Visa or Mastercard) and card type (physical / virtual)
Custody model (custodial, self-custody, or hybrid)
Geographic availability and KYC regions
Supported cryptocurrencies for top-up and spending
ATM withdrawal and daily spending limits
Apple Pay / Google Pay compatibility

Update Frequency

Full database review on a weekly cycle
Fee changes get pushed once we can confirm them against the issuer
New card launches are added once the product is publicly available
Discontinued cards are removed or flagged
All card pages carry a "Last reviewed" date so you can see how fresh the data is

Editorial Independence

Sweepbase earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with some issuers
Affiliate status carries a small fixed bonus in the scoring formula and nothing more
No issuer can pay to improve their position in our comparison results
Sponsored placements, if any, are clearly labelled as such

Sweepbase is a one-person operation. I track issuer announcements, verify fee schedules against primary docs, and run the weekly data refresh.

Founder & Editor

I founded Sweepbase and write most of what's on it. My background is software engineering and consumer fintech. I wrote the methodology we score every card against, I keep the open card dataset current (141 cards, CC-BY), and I've published research on hidden FX fees and on how few sponsor banks actually sit behind all these cards. The rest of the time I'm tracking card economics, stablecoin payments, custody models, FX spreads, and KYC rules across regions. @sweepbaseHQ on X is my personal account; there's no separate Sweepbase brand handle.
