Card Overview
The Avalanche Card is a collateral-backed Visa, live and taking applications as of July 2026, with iOS and Android apps out and no waitlist. The catch is the funding model: you spend against pledged crypto, so if collateral value drops against your outstanding balance, positions can be liquidated to cover it. Multiple 2026 reviews flag those daily liquidations as taxable disposals.
Custody is the selling point. Your collateral in USDC, USDT, AVAX and wAVAX stays in user-controlled smart contracts on the Avalanche C-Chain until the moment you spend, owned and custodied by you per the official site. Fees are clean: $0 to issue, $0 monthly or annual, $0 shipping, virtual and physical cards, 0% APR. Funding is crypto only, topped up by self-custody wallet deposit; there is no advertised fiat on-ramp. Full KYC applies, so budget a government ID, SSN or national ID, and a selfie.
The advertised FX fee is 1%. Some reviewers report higher real cross-border cost, but that figure is single-sourced and unverified, so treat it as a flag, not a number. Availability covers many US states plus Latin America and the Caribbean, with excluded states and countries listed on the official site.
Best fit: Avalanche-native US and LatAm spenders who want to move USDC or AVAX without selling and can stomach liquidation and tax risk. Wrong card if you want flat cashback or predictable cheap travel spend.
Avalanche Card is a self-custody Visa credit card backed by smart contract collateral. Hold your USDC, USDT, or AVAX in your own wallet and spend anywhere Visa is accepted with zero annual fees and 0% APR. Earn AVAX rewards on every purchase while maintaining complete control of your digital assets through Avalanche's blockchain infrastructure.
This is a Visa crypto card. It uses a self-custody model. Available to US residents. Available in Europe. Available in the UK.
