Banking and fiat rails
Card overview
Canada-only, Visa Prepaid. Cashback uses a three-tier Reward Status system (Base, Bright, Blue) that updates monthly based on direct deposits and crypto exchange activity. Base and Bright earn 1% in BTC and Blue earns 1.5%; a 3% welcome boost applies only to cardholders who activated before 26 November 2025, until CAD 3,000 of purchases or 90 days. Cashback pays in BTC only, credited to the Shakepay account with no fiat conversion option inside the card flow.
Reward Status also sets FX: 3% on non-Canadian transactions at Base, 1.5% at Bright and 0% at Blue, while the cardholder agreement lists a flat 3%. Issuance and annual fees are zero, daily spend cap is CAD 5,000, ATM is CAD 1,000/day. If you opt in, the CAD balance the card spends earns interest, paid weekly in bitcoin: 1.5% on Base, 2% on Bright and 3% on Blue. The help article says USD balances earn too, at a rate shown in the app, while the rewards terms list CAD rates only.
Funding works through Interac e-Transfer, direct deposit, or BTC/ETH from your Shakepay wallet (no direct on-chain top-up; assets sold to CAD in-app first). Apple Pay and Google Pay both work. KYC is mandatory (government ID plus selfie). Available across all 13 Canadian provinces and territories.
Best fit: Canadians who already use Shakepay for fiat-to-BTC and want a Bitcoin-rewards card with predictable Canadian banking rails. Wrong card outside Canada, or for foreign spending below Blue status.
