Card overview
Xapo Bank is a Gibraltar-licensed bank, and its Visa or Mastercard debit card is one perk of membership rather than a standalone product. Membership runs about $1,000 a year, so the card only makes sense if you also want the account under it. What you get for that is a real bank account and USD and Bitcoin balances the card spends from. Interest is paid on USD and BTC Savings, a separate account the card cannot spend: 4.10% variable on USD, paid daily in bitcoin.
The card charges 0% foreign-exchange fees, which is rare, and virtual, plastic and metal cards are free. General cashback ended on 30 June 2026; what remains is a promotion of up to 3% in BTC on taxi and rideshare for members with a Metal card, running to 31 October 2026. Custody sits with Xapo, not you, and onboarding runs an extensive compliance and KYC process that turns some applicants away. Xapo accepts members from most countries except the United States and publishes no list; eligibility follows the country menu in the application.
- Best fit
- higher-balance users who want a regulated Bitcoin and USD bank account and treat the 0% FX card as an extra that helps justify the $1,000 membership
- Wrong card if
- you just want a cheap crypto card, since the annual membership buys no ongoing cashback at all
